The Defence Ministry has approved 10 procurement proposals worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore, marking a significant boost to India's defense capabilities
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved 10 capital acquisition proposals worth Rs 1.45 lakh crore to bolster India's defense preparedness. A key highlight of these approvals is that 99% of the total cost will be sourced from indigenous manufacturing under the "Buy (Indian)" and "Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured)" categories.
Additionally, the DAC approved the acquisition of Air Defence Fire Control Radars, which are crucial for detecting and tracking aerial threats and providing accurate firing solutions. The council also cleared the proposal for Forward Repair Team (Tracked) vehicles, designed by Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited, which will provide in-situ repair capabilities during mechanized operations for both mechanized infantry battalions and armored regiments.
The Dornier-228 aircraft will strengthen aerial surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, while the Fast Patrol Vessels, designed for high operational performance in rough weather conditions, will ensure rapid response during maritime operations. The Offshore Patrol Vessels, equipped with advanced technology and extended range capabilities, will enhance the ICG's ability to conduct long-range missions effectively.
