According to reports, the Tata Group may launch exclusive Apple stores in India soon.

According to a December 12 article in The Economic Times, Tata Group may soon build a few tiny, exclusive Apple outlets in India.

The owner of the Croma retail chain, Tata-owned Infiniti Retail, is reportedly collaborating with the iPhone manufacturer. According to a source that cited persons with knowledge of the matter, Infiniti Retail is on track to become an Apple franchisee partner with the intention of launching 100 of these 500- to 600-square-foot stores at malls, as well as high-street and neighbourhood sites.

A retail consultant who is aware of the idea informed ET that Tata has already begun talks with upscale malls and high streets for space. He continued that the lease terms specify which brands and businesses cannot be opened close to the outlet. According to the source, as reported by the ET, these conditions are comparable to those that Apple demands.

Infiniti Retail and Apple India did not react to ET's inquiries.

The Tata-Apple cooperation comes as Apple prepares to open its first company-owned flagship shop in Mumbai sometime in the March quarter.

The Apple Premium Resellers' locations are larger than the Apple Authorized Resellers', often measuring over 1,000 square feet. Smaller shops will mostly sell watches, iPads, and iPhones, while high-end Apple stores will stock the full range of Apple products, including MacBooks.

There are 160 Apple Premium Reseller stores in India as of right now.
